As part of “Albanian November 2024”, in an exciting and unique atmosphere of friendship and cooperation, the Embassy of the Republic of Albania in Greece, together with the Office of Kosovo Interests – Kosovo in Greece, the Municipality of Kamena Vourla – Δήμος Καμένων Βούρλων, the Albanian Football Club APOLONIA FC ATHINA, and the Greek Football Club AO Kamena Vourla, successfully organized the third edition of the “Independence Cup” at the municipal stadium of Kamena Vourla.
Ambassador Mrs. Luela Hajdaraga expressed her gratitude for the support of the Mayor of Kamena Vourla, Mr. Ilias Kirmanidis, considering this event a valuable tradition that strengthens the friendship between the Albanian and Greek people. Mayor Kirmanidis praised the cooperation and the importance of the event in fostering cultural ties between the two countries.
The event brought together both professional and amateur football players from both communities, offering unforgettable moments for young and adult athletes. Apolonia F.C Athina triumphed in the “Independence Cup 2024”, while the local team Kamena Vourla won in the youth category. A total of 4 trophies and 100 medals were awarded to the best teams and players, along with jerseys donated by the Albanian Football Federation.
Before the event, Ambassador Hajdaraga was welcomed in a meeting with the Mayor of Kamena Vourla, where they discussed issues related to the integration of the Albanian community into the social, cultural, and economic life of the Fthiotida region.
A heartfelt appreciation goes to all contributors and supporters, including the Municipality of Kamena Vourla, the Albanian companies – bakeries “Ipiros” Athens, “Imioro”, and “Floga Kafe” in Kamena Vourla, Apolonia FC Athina coach Mr. Benard Veliu, Vice President of AO Kamena Vourla, Mr. Ardian Toska, writer Mrs. Elona Gjergo, who moderated the event, and singer Mrs. Teuta Pango for their dedication to this special sports celebration.
