On February 21, 2025, as part of the International Mother Language Day, the Embassy of the Republic of Albania in Greece, in collaboration with the Association “League of Albanian Women in Greece” (“Σύνδεσμος Αλβανίδων Γυναικών στην Ελλάδα”), chaired by Mrs. Agapi Gjika, organized the event “The Native Language, the Continuity of the Homeland in the Diaspora.”
Representatives of Albanian associations, teachers, parents, and students participated in this event, sharing their thoughts on the importance of the mother tongue as a link between generations and national identity. Mr. Ermal Sulaj, representative of Greece in the Diaspora Coordinating Council, and the Chairwoman of the Albanian Community in Greece, Mrs. Rovena Xhori, emphasized the importance of preserving the Albanian language.
The Ambassador, Mrs. Luela Hajdaraga, highlighted that protecting the Albanian language in the diaspora is a cultural duty, expressing gratitude to teachers for their contribution.
The event concluded with an artistic performance by singer Erefili Çala Shyti, students of the Albanian language courses with teacher Mrs. Lefteri Metkaj, and a choreography by dancers led by choreographer Mrs. Lura Llabani.
