The Albanian Embassy in Athens hosted a ceremony to mark the conclusion of the mission of Military Attaché Colonel Roland Berzani and the appointment of his successor, Colonel Artan Bufi.
The event was attended by generals and senior officers from the General Staff of the Hellenic Armed Forces, representatives from military academies where Albanian cadets are enrolled, members of the Greek military press, academics, foreign military attachés accredited in Athens, and other distinguished guests.
In her remarks, Ambassador Luela Hajdaraga highlighted the significance of Albanian-Greek defense relations, which reached a high point with the visit of Minister Niko Peleshi to Athens. She underscored the reciprocal contributions in areas such as civil emergencies, education, and the strong cooperation within NATO. The Ambassador commended Colonel Berzani for his exemplary service over the years and welcomed Colonel Bufi, expressing confidence in the continued strengthening of defense ties with Greece.
Colonel Berzani, in his address, described the annual bilateral cooperation program with Greece as highly robust, encompassing around 40 joint activities in both countries. He lauded the Greek authorities for their acceptance of Albanian students into Greek academies, where 16 Albanian military personnel are currently studying. He also acknowledged Greece’s assistance during the November 2019 earthquake and the contribution of Albanian forces during last year’s wildfires in Thrace.
The Spanish Military Attaché, speaking in his capacity as Dean of the Attachés, commended Colonel Berzani’s contributions and extended his best wishes to Colonel Bufi.
In the course of their introduction, the two military attachés recently visited the Army Academy, the Naval Academy, the School of Nursing Officers, and engaged in meetings with the senior leadership of the Hellenic Armed Forces.
