The Embassy of the Republic of Albania in Greece is pleased to announce the inauguration of the exhibition “A Bag Full of Phone Cards,” a project by the Archive of Albanian Immigration in Greece, part of the Greek Archive of Contemporary Social History (ASKI). The exhibition is supported by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Public Humanities Initiative (SNFPHI), and is curated by Ms. Ilirida Musaraj, coordinator of the Archive of Albanian Immigration, and Ms. Pati Vardhami, curator and critical theorist.
This exhibition, hosted at the “Tavros” art space, brings to light the invisible and untold stories and experiences of Albanian immigration in Greece. Through a rich collection of testimonies – documents, photographs, and personal items – it highlights the emotional challenges of family separation, economic hardships, and the dreams for a better future.
On behalf of the Albanian Embassy in Athens, Ms. Joneda Dodaj, Diplomat in charge of Diaspora Affairs, attended the event, expressing the Embassy’s support and emphasizing the importance of documenting and preserving the migration history of the Albanian community in Greece, which is an integral part of the contemporary history of both Albania and Greece.
Dates: September 18–28, 2024
Address: “Tavros” Art Space (Anaksagoras 33, Athens)
