The personal exhibition “Retrospective” by Ilirian Shima was successfully inaugurated at the Athens Municipal Arts Center – a journey through decades of the Albanian painter and sculptor’s creative work, where each piece speaks to memory, identity, and the exploration of form.

The exhibition is organized with the support of the National Diaspora Agency, the Embassy of the Republic of Albania in Greece, the Organization for Culture, Sports and Youth of the Municipality of Athens, and “REZART JASA EVENTS.”

The opening ceremony was attended by diplomats, institutional representatives, art enthusiasts, and friends of the artist, creating a warm and festive atmosphere.

Among the attendees was the Ambassador of the Republic of Albania to Greece, Ms. Luela Hajdaraga, who praised Ilirian Shima’s artistic work, emphasizing that his creations represent a fusion of memory, identity, and modern interpretations of Albanian art. She also highlighted the power of art to connect people beyond geographical and cultural boundaries, expressing her appreciation for the artist’s contribution to promoting Albanian culture in Greece.
With curatorial text by Katerina Koskina, the “Retrospective” exhibition offers a visual narrative that intertwines tradition, experimentation, and modernity, opening a direct dialogue with the public.

Each painting and sculpture seems to speak to the past, present, and future of Albanian art, giving form to emotions that require no words.

The exhibition will remain open until 16 November 2025.
Location: Athens Municipal Arts Center (Vasilisis Sofias, “Eleftherias” Park, 11521, near “Megaro Mousikis” metro station)
