As part of International Women’s Day, the Ambassador of the Republic of Albania to Greece, Ms. Luela Hajdaraga, participated in an event organized by the Mayor of Athens, Prof. Haris Doukas, held at the premises of the Athens Municipality.
During this meeting, discussions focused on initiatives and policies in the field of gender equality and the fight against discrimination, with the aim of exploring opportunities for fruitful cooperation with the Athens Municipality.
In her speech, Ambassador Hajdaraga emphasized that gender equality is essential for sustainable development and the democratic functioning of society. She highlighted the need for women to be represented and actively engaged at all levels of decision-making, as their involvement leads to more inclusive policies and a fairer society.
Furthermore, the Ambassador stressed the importance of strengthening institutional efforts to protect women’s rights and eliminate all forms of discrimination, reaffirming the commitment of the Albanian Embassy in Athens to support and promote this cause.
Addressing the Albanian women of the community in Greece, the Ambassador acknowledged their crucial role in preserving national identity and their contribution to Greek society. She encouraged Albanian women to remain active in social, cultural, and economic life, serving as a bridge between the two countries and promoting shared values of equality and mutual respect
