The Embassy of the Republic of Albania in Greece is pleased to announce the first-ever performance in Athens by the contemporary Albanian music group Shkodra Elektronike, with two concerts to be held on October 2 and 3, 2025, at the renowned Pallas Theater, one of the most prestigious cultural venues in the Greek capital.
Shkodra Elektronike is a music project created by two Albanian artists born in the city of Shkodra and raised in Italy: producer and multi-instrumentalist Kolë Laca (formerly of the Italian band Teatro degli Orrori), and singer-songwriter Beatriçe Gjergji. Both emigrated with their families to Italy in the early 1990s and, in 2019, formed this project with the aim of reinterpreting traditional Albanian music through a modern perspective.
Their musical style is defined as Post-Immigrant Pop, blending traditional Albanian folk elements with contemporary electronic influences. Since their formation, they have released four original singles and a live studio EP titled Live @ Uzina, in collaboration with the independent label “Alt Orient.”
Shkodra Elektronike has performed at some of Europe’s leading music festivals, including: Paléo Festival (Geneva), EXIT Festival (Novi Sad), BALKAN:MOST (Veszprém), Pin Music Conference (Sofia), and SoAlive Music Conference (Vienna). They have also participated in numerous events promoting contemporary Albanian and Kosovar art and music, including the Venice Biennale, the Prizren Biennale, and exhibitions by artist Adrian Paci in Milan, Athens, and Tirana.
In December 2024, the duo took part for the first time in the 63rd Festivali i Këngës at Albania’s national broadcaster RTSH, where they won two major awards: First Prize and the Critics’ Award with their song “Zjerm.”
In May 2025, they represented Albania at the Eurovision Song Contest with the same song, achieving 8th place with 218 points – Albania’s highest result in the history of the competition. Notably, they placed second in their semi-final, with 122 points, and received 12 points from the Greek televote. “Zjerm” addresses powerful themes such as pain, hope, and the need for spiritual and social healing.
Since the Eurovision final, the song has garnered over 2 million views on YouTube, while the official music video has reached nearly 3 million views. On Spotify, the song has surpassed 10 million streams, and the duo currently enjoys over 600,000 monthly listeners.
Shkodra Elektronike is currently working on their debut album, which will include a number of special collaborations, among them a project with the Albanian Polyphonic Choir – a musical tradition recognized by UNESCO as part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
Remaining true to their vision, the artists continue to explore and revive Albania’s deep and largely untapped musical heritage, giving it a fresh, contemporary sound and bringing it into the present day.
