The Ambassador of the Republic of Albania to Hungary, Mr. Ilirian Kuka, paid a working visit to the city of Pécs with the focus on promoting Albania and strengthening relations between the two countries. He was received in a meeting by the Mayor of Pécs, Mr. Attila Péterffy, and the Deputy Mayor, Mr. Csaba Ruzsa, with whom he discussed increasing cooperation with Albania in the fields of tourism, economy, culture and education.
Pécs, as a city with rich history and culture, offers excellent opportunities to deepen ties with Albania, emphasized the Mayor of Pécs, Mr. Attila Péterffy expressed his openness and optimism for the encouragement and development of joint projects.
It was agreed to share the calendar of events of the city of Pécs to increase the possibility of the participation of the Embassy or Representatives from Albania in various activities such as: Business Conferences and Tourism Seminars, Fairs or Cultural Events planned to be organized by the Municipality of Pécs.
In the framework of the promotion of tourism and Albania, Ambassador Kuka met with Mr. Mark Kincses, Head of the Department of Tourism, and the tour operators of Pécs that have been operating in Albania since 2001. They shared the experiences and challenges they have encountered during this period as well as the continuous increase in the interest of Hungarians to visit Albania.
Emphasizing generosity and hospitality as characteristic features of Albanians, Ambassador Kuka expressed his happiness for the increase in the number of tourists from Hungary who choose Albania year after year. He added that the local climate and terrain favor the development of a year-round tourism industry and for this reason tourism has become one of the most important and growing sectors of the Albanian economy. Albania is increasingly being recommended as a tourist destination by various international tour operators because it offers all types of tourism from mountain to coastal, but without neglecting cultural and natural tourism.
The visit ended with a meeting with representatives of the University of Pécs and Albanian students studying there. The meeting was an excellent opportunity to increase academic cooperation and strengthen ties between the young generations of both countries.
Ambassador Kuka assured that the Embassy will continue to support Albanian students in all activities where they participate in promoting Albania.
