KUWAIT, June 10 (KUNA) — Albania strives to further enhance bilateral relations with the State of Kuwait in all domains, said the top Albanian legislator here on Tuesday. Albanian Parliament Speaker Ilir Meta said, in an exclusive interview with Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) at the National Assembly building following the official visit by an Albanian delegation headed by Meta, that his country believes that bilateral ties with Kuwait can proceed even further to include other sectors, such as health and tourism spheres. He said he was pleased to head a group of parliamentary officials to Kuwait, saying that his country’s parliament was now adopting a new strategy pertinent to friendship cooperation with Kuwait, making the latter a priority in Albania’s policy not only on the bilateral level but on the international arena as well.Meta added that he is here to confirm to the Kuwaiti officials the need to deepen bilateral relations not only in the parliamentary or political spheres but to also in the cooperative ties and other aspects such as tourism, health and others. He invited Kuwaiti investors to come do business in his country that lies in the heart of Europe and at the entrance of the Balkans to enjoy the huge business facilities offered by his country to the foreign investors, particularly the Kuwaitis.He said that his country comes second after Norway in the abundance of water facilities, urging Kuwaiti businessmen and investors to come to his country to do business in the touristic domain.Meta pointed out that there are much business potentials to explore in both countries, noting the numerous visits paid to both countries by Kuwaiti and Albanian officials which would help in boosting bilateral ties in various domains.The speaker also pointed to the prospected visit to Kuwait by the Albanian Prime Minister, next October, and an expected visit by a parliamentary delegation from Kuwait to Albanian in a week time. As for entry visa to Albania and vis-a-vis, Meta said that both countries were discussing the possibility of waiving the entry visas for both countries’ nationals, saying that Kuwaitis now can enter Albania without it during the summer season (between May-September).For his part, President of the Albanian-Kuwaiti Friendship Committee Shpetim Idrizi said in a similar statement to KUNA that he was honored to be in Kuwait along a high-ranking delegation from the Albanian Parliament to examine the Kuwaiti parliamentary experience here. He described both countries’ ties as “deep-rooted and distinguished”, expressing hope for more cooperation in other areas such as tourism, health and other significant fields. He stressed the significance of the prospective visit to Kuwait by the Albanian Prime Minister next October as well as another to Albania by a Kuwaiti parliamentary delegation next week, saying such visits would help both countries’ ties to prosper in many domains. Meta asserted significance of the meetings of the joint friendship committee which he chairs on the Albanian side, describing the meetings as “fruitful”.He also extolled the role played by the Kuwaiti Ambassador to Albania Najib Al-Bader, taking both countries’ relations to wider horizons in many spheres. For his part, Al-Bader asserted the deep-rooted ties between Kuwait and Albania in various domains, described the visit by the Albanian delegation to Kuwait and the meetings with Kuwaiti officials as “successful” and noted the prospective visit to Kuwait next October by the Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama for enhancing bilateral ties with the State of Kuwait.The relations between Albania and Kuwait have been consolidating constantly especially after the 90s. Albania has strongly condemned Iraq’s invasion of Kuwait back in 1990 and was in full support of the military intervention of the United States-led forces for the liberation of Kuwait, according to the Albanian Ambassador here Kujtim Morina.There are many exchanged visits between the two countries including the one by the President of Albania, Bamir Topi to Kuwait, in May 2012 and the official visit of the former Speaker of National Assembly of the State of Kuwait Jassem Al-Kharafi to Tirana, in October 2011. He also recalled other official visits from the members of cabinets of the both countries. Kuwaiti citizens are welcomed to invest and establish their businesses in Albania, the ambassador said, adding there are several successful Kuwaiti investments but more opportunities need to be explored.There are many advantages for the foreign investors in Albania like no limitation on the percentage share of foreign participation in companies- 100% foreign ownership is possible, foreign investors have the right to expatriate all funds and contributions in kind of their investment to their country of origin, a law approved in 2010 guarantees special state protection for the foreign investors in legal disputes with private third parties; low taxes, personal income tax and corporate tax are only 10%. Despite the global economic crisis, the country has maintained economic growth, 4% in 2011, 3.2% in 2012 and didn’t fall into recession.
