Tirana, 19 May 2026 – Albania and Montenegro reaffirmed the high level of their bilateral relations and strategic partnership during the official visit to Tirana of Montenegro’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ervin Ibrahimović.
During the visit, Minister Ibrahimović held meetings with the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Ferit Hoxha, the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, Klodiana Spahiu, as well as representatives of the Albania–Montenegro Parliamentary Friendship Group.
The meetings highlighted the excellent relations between the two neighboring countries and emphasized that there are no outstanding issues between Albania and Montenegro, while cooperation in various fields continues to consolidate and expand steadily.
One of the main topics of discussion was the European perspective of both countries and their integration process into the European Union, as well as the importance of further coordination within NATO. The parties also discussed strengthening economic relations, developing infrastructure, and improving cross-border connectivity, with the aim of creating new opportunities for citizens and businesses in both countries.
The role of minority communities was also emphasized. They were recognized as an important bridge between Albania and Montenegro and as a factor contributing to greater understanding and cooperation between the two societies.
The visit took place at an important moment for bilateral relations, marking the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Albania and Montenegro, giving particular significance to the two countries’ commitment to further deepening their partnership.
From Tirana, a clear message was conveyed that Albania and Montenegro remain close allies and strategic partners, united by their Euro-Atlantic orientation, shared values, and commitment to peace, security, and stability in the Western Balkans.
Both sides expressed their readiness to continue close cooperation and transform the partnership between the two countries into concrete results, in the interest of Albanian and Montenegrin citizens and of a safer and more integrated region.
