INFORMATION ON VISA REGIME AND APPLICATION
Visa regime for Albanian citizens:
1) The information provided in the attached table, according to the most recent MFA available data, is for orientation purposes only. Before traveling, Albanian citizens should contact the nearest diplomatic mission of the destination country, to request information about the entry and exit conditions.MFA is not responsible for changes or inaccuracies in the information provided.
2) In countries where citizens do not need short-term visas (see “Short-term Visa” column), the “Where to Apply” column refers to those cases when a stay permit visa (similar to D-Type visa) is required

Visa regime for foreign citizens
Visa regulations
The visa regime for foreign citizens in the Republic of Albania is provided for by Law No. 108/13 “On foreigners” and by the Decision of the Council of Ministers No. 513/13 “On the treatment of foreigners”, amended.
Can enter Albania without visa:
a) Foreign citizens who have a valid, multiple-entry Schengen visa, which has been previously used in one of the Schengen states, or foreign citizens who have a valid permit of stay in one of the Schengen states;
b) Foreign citizens who have a valid, multiple-entry US or UK visa, which has been previously used in the respective country of issuance, or have valid permit of stay in the US or UK.
c) Foreign citizens from Saudi Arabia, Bahrein, Egypt*, India, Qatar, Oman, Russia* and Thailand can enter in Albania without visa, for short term stay, with the passport document, from 20 April until 31 December 2022.
Type “C” visa gives to the holder the right to enter and stay in the Republic of Albania for 90 days within 180 days starting from the date of first entry. 2. Type “C” visa may be single, two or multiple entry visa. The period of validity may not exceed 5 years
Type “D” visa is issued to a foreign citizen intending to reside in the Republic of Albania more than 90 days within 180 days and if visa is required for these aliens in order for them to be provided with residence permit. Type “D” visa is valid for one year, with a validity period of stay of 90 days, for single, two or multiple entries entitling the holder to apply for residence permit after entry into the Republic of Albania.
*Citizens of the countries marked with the symbol (*), enter the Republic of Albania without visas for touristic purpose and with the passport document, for a limited period / for the period from 1 May 2022 to 30 September 2022.

Visa regime for foreign citizens
All foreign citizens from countries that are not included in the table are required to have a visa before travelling to Albania. They can apply for a visa in the Albanian embassy that is geographically closest to their country of origin or residency

REQUIREMENTS FOR ACQUIRING THE ALBANIAN CITIZENSHIP
A foreigner, who has filed an application for acquiring the Albanian citizenship through naturalization, acquires it subject to the following conditions:
1. Be at least 18 years old;
2. Have lawfully resided in the territory of the Republic of Albania, for at least 5 years;
3. Have accommodation and sufficient financial means;
4. Hasn’t been penally prosecuted in his own country or in the Republic of Albania for penal crimes charged with more than 3 years of imprisonment (not for political reasons);
5. Have at least basic knowledge of the Albanian language;
6. Granting of Albanian citizenship does not hinder the security and defense of the Republic of Albania.
Facilitated requirements
Facilitated requirements are applied to the foreigners who are married with Albanian citizens, who could prove their Albanian origin or for those that the country has special interest (scientific, economic, cultural or national interest);
If both parent are granted the Albanian citizenship by naturalization, the child under 18 years of age, when he lives with the parents, can also become an Albanian citizen by request of both parents and the consent of the child (between 14-18 years of age).
If both parents of Albanian nationality adopt a child having another citizenship, the child is granted the Albanian citizenship.
Dual citizenship
Albania allows the dual citizenship. The Albanian citizens freely can apply the acquiring of another citizenship without losing the Albanian one. Foreigners also are not hindered to apply for the Albanian citizenship, without renouncing that of the country they originate.
