On 12-13 March 2025, the Ambassador of the Republic of Albania to Poland, Mimoza Halimi, participated in the 5th Congress of Local Government and Economic Forum of the Three Seas Initiative (3SI), which was held under the auspices of the President of the Republic of Poland, Mr. Andrzej Duda. President Duda welcomed this important event, which brought together 1500 guests from 29 countries.
Ambassador Halimi was invited as a panelist in the opening session of the Congress, on the topic: “The Three Seas Initiative – 10th Anniversary Review and Its Future”. In her speech, she noted the importance of this initiative for the candidate countries for EU membership, emphasizing that the 3SI consists of 13 EU member states, which are strong supporters of the Union’s enlargement process.
Ambassador Halimi emphasized that Albania has submitted a request to receive the status of an associated partner country in this initiative and sought the support of the participating countries. She underlined that the 3SI offers significant economic and geopolitical benefits, which are in line with Albania’s modernization objectives and its aspirations for EU membership.
“Participation in 3SI projects, such as railways, highways and energy corridors, will help strengthen infrastructure and improve strategic cooperation. This will integrate us more effectively into the European common market and accelerate the EU membership process,” said Ambassador Halimi.
