The General Director of the State Police, Director Madhor Muhamet Rrumbullaku, was received in an official meeting in Bucharest by the General Inspector of the Romanian Police, Benone-Marian Matei, to discuss the relations between the two police and the possibilities of deepening cooperation.
The Albanian ambassador to Romania, Enkeleda Baduni Merkuri, also participated in the meeting.
The leaders of both polices assessed the level of cooperation as very good, while they agreed to strengthen the exchange of information in the field of security and law enforcement and joint actions to attack organized crime and illegal migration. “Intensification of joint actions to fight organized crime groups, through the creation of joint investigative and operational teams, joint strategies, periodic meetings, exchange of information through secure communication channels, this also in real time, as well as the organization of joint operations are areas where the Albanian and Romanian Police can cooperate”, said Director Madhor Muhamet Rrumbullaku.
The head of the Albanian State Police emphasized as an area of interest to cooperate with the Romanian Police, the development of training related to the fight against extremism and violent radicalism, as well as the exchange of experience for awareness-raising activities for community policing structures, within the framework of programs for the prevention of drug users, especially near school premises and among young people.
The Inspector General of the Romanian Police thanked the Albanian Police for the cooperation and appreciated the high professionalism shown in dealing with a number of issues with international partners. Also, the leaders of both polices agreed to work on drafting a Technical Protocol for cooperation on a list of priorities. The expert groups will be engaged to draw up action plans and help in their concrete realization in areas such as the fight against organized crime and money laundering, the identification and blocking of criminal assets, as well as the crackdown on illegal migration and groups that assist and finance human trafficking.
