Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Ferit Hoxha, post on X:
Today, I met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, Marko Đurić, on the margins of Antalya Diplomacy Forum 2026. Our discussion focused on advancing bilateral relations through constructive dialogue and cooperation, to further consolidate economic and trade ties, recognizing their importance in promoting sustainable development and regional stability.
In this respect, I appreciated Serbia’s readiness to respond positively to our request to open a General Consulate in Bujanovac. I underscored the imperative to preserve, develop, and strengthen regional cooperation as the most reliable path toward a shared future, while avoiding unjustified and unnecessary rhetoric. Albanian has chosen to invest in the clarity of its positions and the consistency of its foreign policy, as well as in people-to-people contacts and in nurturing a younger generation with a strong European mindset.
We also acknowledged our fundamentally different positions on the Republic of Kosovo. I reiterated Albania’s clear and consistent position on the crucial importance of, and our full support for the EU-facilitated Kosovo–Serbia dialogue as the only viable path toward full normalization of relations and eventual mutual recognition, an outcome that would contribute to lasting peace and stability in the region.
