The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Ferit Hoxha, posted on X:
Bratislava: I am very pleased to have held my first meeting with the Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani.
We reaffirmed the excellent relations between Albania and Italy, which are based on a special friendship between our peoples, deep historical ties, and an ever-growing strategic partnership.
We recognised the high level of cooperation between our two countries in many areas, including political dialogue at the highest level, defence, energy, security, connectivity, the economy, trade, culture, and exchanges between our citizens.
We also emphasised our strong alignment of positions on key European, regional and international issues, and our shared commitment to peace, security, regional stability, and the European future of the Western Balkans.
Italy is not only a friend and a close partner, but also a strategic ally and one of Albania’s strongest supporters on our path towards EU membership.
I expressed Albania’s sincere gratitude for Italy’s continued, unwavering and concrete support for our EU integration process. I particularly appreciated Italy’s enduring role as one of the strongest defenders of Albania’s European perspective, both bilaterally and within the European Union.
Together, we will continue to strengthen our cooperation in all areas of mutual interest for the benefit of our countries and citizens, and for a stronger Europe.
I also gladly accepted Minister Tajani’s invitation to visit Rome in the coming weeks.
