The Embassy of the RS in Bratislava, in cooperation with the French Embassy, ​​organized the screening of the film “14 years old groom”, as part of the activities for the month of Francophonie, in the premises of the French Institute. The film, translated into French, was watched with interest by participants of diplomatic missions, friends and well-wishers of Albania and the French language and French-speaking cultures, who have attended throughout this month exhibitions, ideas debates, concerts, seminars, etc., which also coincide with The French Presidency of the Council of the EU.
In her welcoming speech, Ambassador Merkuri made a presentation of the strong ties that exist in Albania with language and culture in the Francophone area, her contribution as a member of the International Organization of Francophonie since 1999, as well as the importance given to the French language in the system Albanian education, without forgetting to highlight the artistic and cultural activities in various Albanian cities, in cooperation with the French Alliance. He further presented the work of Andon Zako Cajupi, as a well-known poet and playwright of the early 1900s, with important contributions to the cultural, political and social movement of those years, known as the Albanian Renaissance. He dedicated a special appreciation to the creator of the cinematographic work, the well-known director Dhimitër Anagnosti, not only as a courageous filmmaker, but also as the author of very productive scripts throughout his 40-year career.
On the occasion of the closing of the Month of Francophonie, the embassy of RSH Bratislava became one of the organizers of the dinner of Francophone friendship, in the evening organized by the French Embassy in cooperation with the French Institute in Bratislava on 31/03/2022. Traditional Albanian foods were exhibited alongside those from France, Switzerland, Belgium, Canada, Ireland, Bulgaria and Romania.
In the speech of the occasion, the French ambassador, among others, thanked the RSH embassy for the active participation and support of the activities of the French Institute in Bratislava. About 200 guests from diplomatic missions and local institutions tasted authentic products of Albanian gastronomy, which is seen as an important factor in the promotion of our cuisine and traditions and the development of tourism in our country.
