Entela Gjika
Ambassador of the Republic of Albania to Spain
Since 19 December 2023, Entela Gjika is the Ambassador of the Republic of Albania to the Kingdom of Spain, covering also el Principado de Andorra, the Kingdom of Morocco and the Islamic Republic of Mauritania.
In February 2019, she has been appointed as the Director of State Protocol, Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Albania.
During her diplomatic career, Ms. Entela Gjika has served in several diplomatic positions at home and abroad. Abroad, she has served at the Embassy of the Republic of Albania to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (2010 to 2016), at the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Albania to the International Organizations in Vienna (2006 to 2010), at the Embassy of the Republic of Albania to Hungary (2005). In London, she also held the position of the Chargé d’Affaires, from October 2015 to August 2016.
During her posting in Vienna, among other duties, she was the Alternate Permanent Representative of Albania to the International Atomic Energy Agency when Albania was a member of the Board of Governors of the Agency (2007 to 2009).
At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Entela Gjika has served in various positions, such as Minister’s Advisor (2002 – 2003) and in bilateral and multilateral departments (Department of Regional Affaires and the UN Department).
Prior to joining the Foreign Ministry, she was Assistant to the Prime Minister (1999 – 2001).
During her university studies and later on, she has also been active with the civil society and youth networks in Albania on human rights issues and human rights education and has regularly attended trainings organized by the Youth Department of Council of Europe in Strasburg (1998-1999).
Entela Gjika holds a BSc. Hons. in Biology and Chemistry, Faculty of Natural Sciences, University of Tirana (1996). She holds an MA in Management and Public Policy Studies from the Manchester University as a Chevening Scholar, a Global Scholarship Program of the UK Government for post-graduate studies (2002).
