Minister of Education, Ms. Mirela Kumbaro, conducted a working visit to UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, participating in key international events and holding high-level meetings aimed at strengthening cooperation in education.
During the visit, the Minister took part in the annual meeting of the Global Education Coalition and attended the launch of the Global Education Monitoring (GEM) Report 2026. She highlighted Albania’s experience in digital transformation in education and emphasized the importance of inclusive and high-quality learning systems. In her remarks, she underlined the central role of teachers and the need to provide meaningful educational alternatives for young people in an increasingly digital environment.
Minister Kumbaro was also invited to speak at a high-level panel, where she presented Albania’s approach to linking education with culture and economic development, stressing the importance of investing in human capital and innovation.
As part of the visit, the Minister held a bilateral meeting with the Director-General of UNESCO, Khaled Ahmed El-Enany, as well as with the Assistant Director-General for Education, Stefania Giannini. Discussions focused on reforms in higher education, strengthening scientific research, and enhancing the internationalization of Albanian universities.
The Minister also held exchanges with fellow ministers, including the Italian Minister of Education, sharing experiences and exploring opportunities for bilateral and multilateral cooperation.
The visit reaffirms Albania’s commitment to playing an active role in UNESCO’s global initiatives and to further strengthening cooperation in support of quality and sustainable education.
