The situation in northern Kosovo, MEFA calls for immediate de-escalation of situation: Nothing justifies the violence, perpetrators brought to justice.


The MEFA of Albania is very concerned about the escalation of the situation in the north of the Republic of Kosovo and condemns in the strongest terms the vandal acts perpetrated today in the north of Kosovo, where individuals put fire to the offices of vehicle registration in Zubin Potok and damaged a similar office in Zvecan. Nothing can justify the use of violence, the damage of public property and lack of respect for the rule of law. The MEFA calls for the perpetrators to be brought before justice.

Starting from 6th September, all the citizens who enter the Republic of Albania must meet one of the following three conditions:

1. Have a vaccination passport, where at least two weeks have passed from the date of full vaccination.
2. Have a negative PCR test within 72 hours or a rapid antigen test within 48 hours.
3. Have proof of passing Sars-Cov2 infection, which is valid for up to 6 months after healing.

These rules are also valid for those citizens transiting through Albania.
Children up to 6 years old are not subject to these rules.

Protocol to be followed by visitors entering the territory of Albania during the Covid-19 pandemics 2021


All those interested in traveling to Albania, are reminded that Albania has opened its borders on June 1, 2020.
There are no restrictions on entry, whether for Covid-19 test or specific document.

Announcement on visa regime for foreign citizens visiting the Republic of Albania


Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs announces that, with the Decision of the Council of Minister No. 90, date 27.02.2019, on “Definition of criteria, procedures, and documentation for entry, stay and treatment of foreigners in the Republic of Albania”, citizens from Russian Federation, Saudi Arabia, Belarus, Qatar, Oman, Thailand, Bahrain may enter the Republic of Albania without visa for the period 1 April to 31 October 2019.

For the citizens from the People’s Republic of China this decision is valid for the period 1 March to 31 October 2019.

Official visit of the President of the Republic of Albania, H.E. Ilir Meta to the Republic of Austria


At the invitation of the Federal President of the Republic of Austria, H.E. Dr. Alexander Van der Bellen, President of the Republic of Albania, H.E. Mr. Ilir Meta paid an official visit to Austria, on 23 October 2018.

Bushati – Kneissl: It is clear to our region that Europe is more important than conflicts


On 4th of October, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Ditmir Bushati welcomed the Austrian Federal Minister for Europe, Integration and Foreign Affairs, Karin Kneissl. The purpose of this visit was to express Austria’s support to Albania and the Western Balkan countries to their prospects for the European Union.

Minister Bushati expressed gratitude to his Austrian counterpart for the continued support that Austria has provided to Albania in the European path, both bilaterally and within the EU Presidency.

Keeping with tradition, the General Assembly held a plenary session dedicated to peace, ahead of the General Debate.
