This is both a letter and an invitation addressed to you.
On the auspicious occasion of the 575th anniversary of Lezha Assembly, we will host the 2nd Summit of the Albanian Diaspora.
The Assembly came to life as a need for dialogue and the union of equals-ínterpares-becoming the powerful example that shaped our distinct national identity in the history of Europe for the centuries to follow.
The Summit is a unique event, a testament to our refusal to close ourselves off and the willingness to stand up together to the challenges of our century and era.
A roadmap that,notwithstanding the diversity of beliefs or of the places we live in,this summit will help us all as Albanians to address with a clear head the challenges arising in today's world, the pressure of the information and communication technologies,and come up with adequate and innovative ways to get reorganized among us as the times demand.
The future of a nation is not forged on pre-existing paradigms or any miraculous recipes.
Today's easy temptation to twist truths, misconstrue history or fall into self-deception in an effort to find consolation or self-comfort, will make tomorrow's co-existence harder.
The analysis of the migration-related phenomena should lead to a heightened sensitivity and awareness, while offering us the realization that integration processes, particularly the European one, are major challenges testing our own way of living.
Ulysses' journey in search of Ithaca is a vivid representation of how a nation -a community perpetually moving forward- is also a never-changing notion.
Considering such premises, the2nd Albanian Diaspora Summit will come with a new profile that will be different from the previous one.Our ambition is for it to turn into the forum where the new state policies on the diaspora will be laid out and a new collaboration is forged that connects the fellow citizens and countrymen living abroad with the fates of their home country, place of origin and nation.
It is for that reason that I invite you to become an active part of the event that embraces the desired future as along-term and engaging endeavor that begins today from you, thanks to you, together with you.
