Speech for Celebrating Albania’s National Day at the Diplomatic Reception – November 14th, 2024
H.E Inid Milo- Ambassador
Your Excellencies,
Distinguished guests,
Ladies and gentlemen,
Good evening,
It is a great honor and privilege to welcome you all to this special reception as we gather to celebrate Albania’s National Day.
On this auspicious occasion, we commemorate the declaration of Albania’s independence on November 28, 1912, a day that marks the birth of our nation as a free and sovereign state.
Today, as we reflect on our history, we remember the courage, resilience, and unwavering spirit of our forebear which laid the foundation for the Albania we know today—a country characterized by its rich cultural heritage, vibrant traditions, and enduring quest for progress and prosperity.
Albania’s journey over the past century has been one of significant transformation. From the challenges of the early 20th century to the dynamic developments of the present day, we have continually strived to build a democratic society grounded in the principles of freedom, justice, and human rights.
Our commitment to these values remains steadfast as we navigate the complexities of the modern world.
This National Day is not just a celebration of our independence, but also a tribute to the strong and enduring bonds we share with our international friends and partners.
It is a testament to the importance of diplomacy, collaboration, and mutual respect in fostering peace and development across borders.
The relations between Albania and Bulgaria have always been strong and characterized by mutual respect and cooperation.
We share historical and cultural ties that continue to deepen, and we are optimistic about the future development of our bilateral relations, particularly in areas such as tourism, trade, and infrastructure.
We see great potential for further collaboration between our two nations.
Albania is proud to be a member of the global community, actively contributing to regional stability, security, and cooperation. Our integration into Euro-Atlantic structures, (both NATO and EU) our dedication to the principles of the United Nations, and our active participation in numerous international organizations reflect our commitment to upholding international law and promoting a just and equitable world order.
As we celebrate tonight, we also look forward to the future with optimism and determination.
Albania is undergoing significant economic, juridical, and social reforms aimed at enhancing the well-being of our citizens and ensuring sustainable development.
To our esteemed guests and diplomatic partners, I extend my heartfelt gratitude for your continued support and friendship. Your presence here today, is a testament to the strong ties that bind our nations and the shared values that unite us. Together, we can continue to build bridges of understanding, cooperation, and solidarity.
Last but not least, I would like to extend our gratitude to our sponsor, “FABA KANTINA, which provided us with this excellent Albanian Red Wine. A combination of two Albanian native grapes, Vlash and Sheshi i Zi.
I invite all of you to enjoy it, as well as our beauties behind me, and the jazz music in the background, a performance of the Albanian AJC band, who represented Albania at the last Bansko Jazz Festival last August.
Thank you for joining us in this celebration!
Long live Albania! Long live our friendship!
