In the context of the 30-year cooperation between Albania and the Council of Europe, and during the final year of the three-year Horizontal Facility Programme in Albania, Albania’s Permanent Mission in Strasbourg and the Directorate for Programme Co-ordination of the Council of Europe organized on 28 May 2026 the event “Albania and the Council of Europe: A Journey Towards the European Union”.

More than 40 ambassadors and representatives of member states participated in the event and were informed about the results of cooperation between Albania and the Council of Europe in areas such as judicial reform, the fight against corruption, electoral integrity, human rights, and media freedom.

Ambassador Dastid Koreshi highlighted the role of the Council of Europe as a key partner in supporting reforms that bring Albania closer to European standards, while representatives of the European Union and Albanian institutions emphasized the country’s progress in the integration process.

The event served to promote Albania’s achievements in Strasbourg and to showcase the contribution of the Council of Europe to advancing reforms and supporting the country’s accession process to the European Union.
