Last night, as part of the World Theatre Festival Zagreb, HNK2 hosted MAMI, the acclaimed performance by Mario Banushi and his Greek troupe.

For the Embassy of Albania, the evening had a special meaning. Mario Banushi is of Albanian origin, as is one of the performers in the troupe. Their presence on the Greek stage is a beautiful example of the contribution and richness that people of Albanian origin have brought to Greek society, while also reflecting the deep human and cultural connections between Albania and Greece.

We were especially moved to hear Albanian music as part of the performance – a powerful reminder of how culture and memory travel across borders.

The theatre was full and the performance received a standing ovation. Following the show, the Embassy of Albania hosted a reception for Mario Banushi and the troupe, together with our colleagues from the Embassy of Greece, celebrating an evening in which Albanian, Greek and Croatian cultural connections came together in Zagreb.
