Elida PETOSHATI, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Albania to the Kingdom of Denmark

Mrs. Petoshati joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1998. She is a career diplomat and has been appointed in different positions and departments at Headquarters, including Regional Department, NATO and OSCE office, the International Organizations Department and European office.
 
From 2001-2005, was appointed as Counsellor at the Albanian Embassy to Romania;
 
From 2005-2009, has been holding the position of Secretary General of the Albanian National Commission for UNESCO and Francophonie, specializing in intercultural communication and promotion, at national and regional level, of the dialogue of cultures and civilizations, cultural diversity, interconfessional understanding, plurilinguism, in the light of sustainable development. During the same period, she was member of the Interministerial Group on Religions near the Committee of Cults, member of the Interministerial Committee for the Alliance of Civilizations and co-writer of the Albanian Government's Strategy for Intercultural Dialogue.
 
From 2009 to mid-May 2011, was the Director of the Department for Italy, Greece, Turkey (Holy See, Malta & Cyprus) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Albania;
 
From May 2011 to February 2016, has been Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Albania to Canada;
 
From March to May 2016, was Head of Division at the European Union Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Albania;
 
From June 2016 to October 2018, she has been Director for the Region and Neighbouring Countries, at the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Albania;
 
Mrs. Petoshati has been graduated from Diplomatic Academy in Vienna with excellent results in European Studies [1999]. She has also completed a number of programs and training courses in Egypt, Denmark, Romania, Croatia, at UNESCO HQ etc.
 
Prior to her engagement to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, she has been assistant professor to Tirana University (1992- 1993). Up to 2010, she has pursued her academic activity as Professor at the Department of Literature in the Faculty of Philology and History of Tirana University, lecturing at Master’s Degree Program on Comparative and Universal Literature. Mrs. Petoshati is also author of a series of scientific studies, books and articles in the domains of literature, linguistics, cultural diversity, Albanian history and culture, in general.
 
Designated by the Albanian Minister of Foreign Affairs “Francophone Personality of the Year 2010”, with the motivation "Diversity in the service of peace", in the context of celebrating the 40th anniversary of the International Organization of La Francophonie;
 
Since November 28th, 2016, Mrs. Petoshati is an Honorary Member of the Albanian-Canadian Community Association of Toronto, Canada;
 
Awarded with the Title “Distinguished Personality of Labëria” in October 2016 by the Albanian Association “Labëria-Honors of the Nation”;
 
She speaks excellent English, French, Romanian, Spanish and Italian.
