The President of the Republic of Albania, His Excellency Mr. Bajram Begaj, together with his wife, at the invitation of His Majesty King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein, King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, on 21-24 February 2026, paid an official visit to Jordan, which follows the official visit of King Abdullah II to Tirana, on 2 May 2025. After being received by King Abdullah II and Queen Rania, as well as the official ceremony, President Begaj held a special meeting with King Abdullah II, in the presence of their respective spouses. During the visit and meetings held, President Begaj was accompanied by Ambassador Sami Shiba. In the meeting held between President Begaj, with the presence of the delegation and King Abdullah II and Queen Rania, with the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad, Deputy Prime Minister, former Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants H.E. Ayman Safadi, and the delegation, King Abdullah II and President Bagaj reconfirmed the very good relations between Albania and Jordan and expressed the determination to deepen cooperation in all areas of common interest, as well as shared the same assessment that Albania and Jordan are two countries that share common values, a moderate approach to international politics and a clear commitment to stability and dialogue.
During the visit, President Bagaj also met with Prime Minister Dr. Jafar Hassan, with whom he shared the same opinion that mutual high-level visits demonstrate the will of both countries to strengthen the partnership and advance the common agenda of cooperation, adding that this visit will give a new impetus to relations between the two countries and will serve to consolidate political, economic, security cooperation, as well as expansion in other areas of mutual interest. Referring to the assessment of Prime Minister Hassan, who stated that we now have a clear map of the areas of cooperation between our two countries and that it remains to increase the commitment to concretize cooperation in all areas, President Begaj assessed that there is considerable potential to strengthen the economic dimension of cooperation and the development of tourism, emphasizing at the same time the importance of establishing a direct air route between the two countries in this regard.
The Head of State expressed his gratitude to His Majesty King Abdullah II for recognizing Kosovo and its support in international forums, as well as his commitment to recognition by other OIC and Arab League countries.
