Albania is pleased to be among the co-sponsor of this important side event.

I would like to thank the Independent Expert for his outstanding contribution on advancing the agenda on the protection against violence and discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity.

LGBT + persons face a series of prejudicial and discriminatory actions.

The fundamental rights and freedoms of the individuals should be guaranteed for all people without distinction or discrimination of any kind, including sexual orientation and expression of gender identity.

 
We stand ready to cooperate with the Independent Expert but also within the Group of Friends on the Independent Expert on Protection Against Violence and Discrimination Based on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity to explore potential strategies to advance the implementation of the report’s remedial recommendations.
