At the joint invitation of “Kathimerini” and “Financial Times”, the Republic of Albania participated in the international “Energy Transition Summit: East Med & Southeast Europe”, held in Athens on 13-14 May 2026.
The Summit brought together senior political leaders, institutional representatives, and energy experts from across the region and beyond, focusing on the challenges of the energy transition and the strengthening of energy security of supply.

Albania was represented at the high-level forum by the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Mr. Enea Karakaçi, who took part in the ministerial panel dedicated to commitments towards the 2030 objectives. In his intervention, the Minister underlined the importance of regional cooperation, the integration of energy markets, and the strengthening of energy security across Southeast Europe.
On the sidelines of the Summit, Minister Karakaçi held a bilateral meeting with the Greek Minister of Environment and Energy, Mr. Stavros Papastavrou. Discussions focused on further deepening bilateral relations and advancing strategic energy interconnection projects, as well as Albania’s priorities in diversifying its energy sources.

The Embassy of the Republic of Albania in Athens welcomes and appreciates the organisation of the Summit by Kathimerini and Financial Times, which provided a valuable platform for dialogue on the energy transition and regional cooperation.
Participation in this forum contributes to the continued strengthening of bilateral relations and to the promotion of constructive cooperation in the energy sector between Albania and Greece.
