The Bank of Albania has announced the opening of the annual competition “Governor’s Award for the Best Diploma Thesis 2026”, dedicated to Albanian students who graduated in Albania or abroad during the period October 2025 – October 2026.

Students are invited to submit their diploma theses addressing topics related to economics and finance, including:

• monetary and international economics;
• financial stability;
• the economic integration of Western Balkan countries into Europe;
• the monetary policy and macroprudential policies of the Bank of Albania;
• fiscal policies and their role in the economy;
• the Albanian banking system;
• the behaviour of individuals and firms in Albania;
• as well as broader economic issues.

The submitted works will be assessed by a dedicated scientific evaluation committee of the Bank of Albania, which will select the winning theses based on their scientific quality, originality and the relevance of their main findings.

The monetary awards for the winners are:

• First prize: 250,000 ALL
• Second prize: 200,000 ALL
• Third prize: 150,000 ALL

Applications must be submitted electronically in PDF format to: public@bankofalbania.org

The application file should include:

• a letter expressing the applicant’s interest in participating in the competition;
• Curriculum Vitae;
• an abstract and a brief summary of the main findings;
• the name of the thesis supervisor and the relevant university/faculty;
• the full version of the diploma thesis.
