During an official visit to Athens, the Speaker of the Parliament of Albania, Niko Peleshi, accompanied by a parliamentary delegation, held a series of meetings at the Hellenic Parliament to further strengthen political dialogue and inter-parliamentary cooperation.

In his meeting with the Speaker of the Hellenic Parliament, Nikitas Kaklamanis, both sides highlighted the positive and constructive nature of bilateral relations, based on NATO membership, shared strategic interests, and the European perspective of the Western Balkans. The role of the Albanian community in Greece and the Greek minority in Albania was also highlighted as an important bridge between the two societies.
Greece’s support for Albania’s European integration was reaffirmed as a shared priority, alongside recognition of the progress achieved in accession negotiations and the goal of their completion by 2027.

The delegation also held meetings with Ioannis Plakiotakis and members of the Committee on European Affairs, as well as with Dimitrios Kairidis and members of the relevant committee.


A meeting was also held with the Greece-Albania Parliamentary Friendship Group, chaired by Efstathios Konstantinidis, focusing on strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation and advancing the European integration agenda of Albania and the Western Balkans.
Attention was also given to economic cooperation, including trade, investment, and tourism, as well as the importance of people-to-people ties.

The visit reaffirmed the shared commitment to further deepen the strategic partnership between Albania and Greece, based on good neighbourly relations, mutual respect, NATO alliance, and the European perspective.
