About Bilateral Relations
Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Albania and the State of Qatar were established on August 26, 1992.
Albania opened its embassy in Doha in January 2011 (the Albanian ambassador arrived on December 13, 2010) and a year later, in January 2012, the State of Qatar opened its embassy in Tirana.
The relations between the two countries are stable, developed in a friendly manner, in a spirit of trust, respect and mutual benefit, with the willingness to cooperate, help and support each other both bilaterally and multilaterally.
The positive and constructive engagement is also confirmed by high-level visits as well as the signing of a number of important agreements in support of the institutionalization of cooperation and positive development with mutual benefits in trade, economy, security, etc.
Visits in recent years:
October 2011 – Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani (today Baba Amir) made an official visit to Albania.
2012 – Prime Minister Sali Berisha visits Doha.
February 9-10, 2014 – The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ditmir Bushati, made a working visit to Doha.
April 12-14, 2014 – Prime Minister Mr. Edi Rama visits Qatar.
March 10-11, 2015 – President Mr. Bujar Nishani visits Qatar
April 6-10, 2019 – The Speaker of the Assembly, Mr. Gramoz Ruçi, visits Doha within the framework of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.
April 15-17, 2019 – Prime Minister Mr. Edi Rama visits Qatar.
March 2022- The Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar visited Tirana
