04/11/2020 - The Acting Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Gent Cakaj, participated in the 130th Session of the Committee of Ministers of Council of Europe which was chaired by the Greek chairmanship of CoE and because of the pandemic it was held online. This year’s session was special because 4 November 2020, coincides with the 70th anniversary of the approval of the European Convention on Human Rights.
Among the topics discussed with the high representatives of 47 member states in this session Chief Diplomat Cakaj emphasized the immediate need for Kosovo to join the Council of Europe.
“One thing is for sure: the support for the Republic of Kosovo to join Council of Europe not only is historically right and politically reasonable, but also a direct contribution to strengthening of democracy, rule of law and the fundamental human rights and freedoms in Europe.” – expressed his conviction Cakaj in a Facebook post.
