THE CCIR IS INVOLVED IN THE REVITALIZATION OF ECONOMIC RELATIONS WITH ALBANIA
The President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania, Mr. Mihai Daraban, had a meeting with the new ambassador of the Republic of Albania in Romania, H.E. Mrs. Enkeleda Merkuri, in order to boost bilateral economic relations.
“The diplomatic relationship between Romania and Albania is more than 110 years old, witness of the friendship between the two states being the Albanian national anthem, whose music is composed by Ciprian Porumbescu. At the moment, Albania is in the process of joining the European Union, which shows how this country has progressed recently, both economically and politically. Albania can learn from Romania’s experience regarding the accession process, but especially from the post-accession one which, unfortunately, showed us that bureaucracy and corruption are the biggest obstacles in attracting European funds”, said the president CCIR, Mr. Mihai Daraban.
“A very important component of my activity as the new ambassador of Albania in Romania will be economic diplomacy, a revitalization of commercial exchanges between the two states implicitly also leading to better collaboration on the political level. For Albania, your country represents a good practice partner in terms of the European Union accession process in which we are involved, and the CCIR can play a decisive role in providing consultancy on the economic component. There are joint projects in which the business environments of the two states can be involved, energy being a field of strategic importance for Albania”, declared the ambassador of the Republic of Albania in Romania, H.E. Mrs. Enkeleda Merkuri.
