The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Olta Xhaçka, received in Tirana the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo, Donika Gërvalla.
During the meeting, Minister Xhaçka mentioned that Albania will continue to raise its voice for Kosovo and make it part of every discussion.
"Today Albania is a much more important actor than a decade ago. Today we are closer than ever to the opening of negotiations with the EU, we have a stronger relation with the USA and even more importantly is the fact that after a few months, we will be part of the Security Council table. This is a development that gives a whole new dimension and potential to our diplomacy. This is an opportunity for us, but it is also an opportunity for Kosovo, which will be one of the priorities of our work there. We will work by raising our voice and bringing back Kosovo to the discussions of Security Council, and doing concrete work to expand the recognition or representation of Kosovo in international organizations ", said the Albanian chief diplomat in the statement for the media after the meeting.
Regarding the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Xhaçka emphasized that the result should be a legally binding agreement that brings the reciprocal recognition between the two countries, Kosovo's membership in the UN and the EU, as well as fair treatment of minorities in accordance with the Constitution of Kosovo.
