10/07/2020 - The Acting Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Gent Cakaj, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sweden, Ann Linde, in the framework of his official visit to Stockholm.
The focus of the meetings was the extraordinary work of the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) in the development of Albania, and the technical support of the group responsible for the membership negotiations with the EU.
“Sweden continues to be a strong supporter of Albania’s path towards the European Union, and our political and diplomatic relationship is of irreplaceable importance,” Cakaj emphasized in a Facebook post regarding the meeting with the Swedish counterpart.
The two ministers also agreed on the need to deepen the cooperation within the OSCE and the importance of Albania taking over a non-permanent member seat in the UN Security Council.
“We remain extremely committed to intensify our relations with Sweden,” Cakaj outlined at the end of his post.
