17/09/2020 - Acting Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Gent Cakaj, is having a two-day official visit in Skopje. Chief Diplomat Cakaj begins this visit with a meeting with his counterpart, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Northern Macedonia, Bujar Osmani.
The meeting was focused on the discussions about holding the next intergovernmental meeting with a special emphasis on the continuation of works for the construction of the Arbër Road, the Bitola (Manastir)-Elbasan interconnection and the good management of Lake Ohrid.
The counterparts also strongly stressed the need for joint work to further advance the negotiation process for membership in the European Union.
“It must be said that Albania strongly counts on the support of Northern Macedonia for its candidacy as a non-permanent member of the Security Council for 2022-2023,” said Cakaj.
Further, Chief Diplomat Cakaj said that together with Minister Osmani they shared the same view on the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, that should end clearly and decisively with the recognition of the Republic of Kosovo by Serbia.
