The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Olta Xhaçka, addressed through an open call to all Albanians inside and outside the country to be part of the task force that is expected to represent Albania in the UN Security Council.
According to the Chief diplomat, Albania is expected to be elected a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for the period 2022-2023, during the meeting of the UN General Assembly to be held on June 11, 2021.
Minister Xhaçka informed that the application can be made through a special window on the official website of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs, where there will be further instructions on the documentation to be submitted and the areas of expertise required.
"We have decided to address an open call to all Albanians, wherever they are, to cooperate with us for the successful realization of this historic mission. We want Albania to be represented in the Security Council with the Dream Team, its Dream Team. A team, where there will be a combination of the best and most experienced diplomats of our diplomatic service and the best experts and professionals from every country where Albanians live and work. Therefore, I want to make a call today to all those boys and girls, men and women, who with hard work have managed to build successful careers and all the talented professionals to apply to become part of our team in the Security Council ", she said in the video message addressed to Albanian citizens.
Chief diplomat Xhaçka stressed that the applications will be evaluated by a special commission that will be set up in the MEFA to select the final winners, who will be part of the team in the Security Council in New York, as experts for the years 2022 - 2023.
