The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Olta Xhaçka, received in a meeting, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sweden, Ann Linde, who visited Albania in her capacity as OSCE Chairperson-in-Office.
Minister Xhaçka praised the Swedish Presidency of the OSCE in leading the organization and for the support shown to Albania and the countries of the Western Balkans, for fulfilling important reforms.
"Our region has taken very big steps forward on the path of stabilization, development, and cooperation, but despite this, there is an uncertainty coming from the EU, regarding the further steps of the region in the European integration process. And this uncertainty, of course, in addition to damaging the EU's reputation, also damages the model on which stability and cooperation in the Western Balkans are built. Therefore, the active commitment of the Swedish Presidency and the attention shown to the region, is a message that has been properly read as a message of commitment and support ", said Minister Xhaçka in the statement for the media after the meeting.
Minister Ann Linde emphasized the support of her country, Sweden, for holding the first Intergovernmental Conference, Albania-EU as soon as possible.
At the same time, as the OSCE CiO, she expressed the OSCE appreciation for the reforms taken by Albania.
With visits to Albania and Bosnia & Herzegovina, Minister Linde concludes her tour of the Western Balkans, which began in May with Serbia and Montenegro.
