Minister Bushati holds bilateral meetings in New York

Minister of Foreign Affairs Ditmir Bushati is currently attending the proceedings of the 70th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. During the first day, he held several bilateral meetings with his counterparts of Qatar, Azerbaijan, Iraq and Malaysia.
During the meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Dr. Khaled bin Mohammed Al Attiyah, they put the emphasis on bilateral relations, cooperation in international organizations and regional developments.

Ministers Bushati and Al Attiyah stated that the successful progress of political relations should be furthered with the implementation of concrete economic cooperation projects. Minister Bushati thanked his Qatari counterpart for the support given to Kosovo and encouraged him to continue supporting Kosovo in their request for admission to UNESCO. The two Ministers also talked about boosting cooperation in international organizations and focused on the latest international and regional developments, underlining the need to coordinate contributions in order to face challenges that threaten stability and peace.

At the meeting with his counterpart from the Republic of Azerbaijan, Elmar Mammadyarov, Minister Bushati praised the excellent level of bilateral relations and expressed the will of the Albanian government to intensify political dialogue through high-level visits. Parties focused on boosting cooperation in the economic field, especially in the field of energy and the implementation of the TAP project. Minister Bushati emphasized that the project offers a more balanced distribution of power and its resources in the region and beyond. He also thanked the Azerbaijani government for the support given to TAP, as the most feasible and relevant project for our country and the entire Balkan region.
During the meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iraq, Ibrahim Al-Jaafari, Minister Bushati highlighted the Albanian government's support for the efforts of Prime Minister Abadi for national reconciliation and reforms undertaken in the country. He reiterated Albania's support for the efforts of the International Community and Iraq to ensure stability and reinforce law throughout the country and reaffirmed Albania's position in support of the unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Iraq.
Mr. Jaafari praised Albania's contribution as an active member of the international coalition against terrorism and in this context, underlined the need to cooperate and coordinate international efforts in the fight against terrorism.

At the end of the first day, Minister Bushati held a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia, Dato 'Sri Anifah Aman.

Interlocutors praised the friendly relations between the two countries and expressed their willingness to further develop them through the exchange of high level visits in the political aspect, as well as in various fields of mutual interest in the economic sphere. Minister Bushati noted the areas where our country offers opportunities for investment and underlined the commitment of the Albanian government to create necessary facilities for foreign investors.
