Minister Bushati met with counterparts of Saudi Arabia, South Korea and Kazakhstan
In the framework of his stay in New York and participation in the proceedings of the 70th Session of the UN General Assembly, Minister of Foreign Affairs Ditmir Bushati held bilateral meetings with his counterparts of Saudi Arabia, South Korea and Kazakhstan.
During the meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia Adel Al-Jubeir, the two ministers praised the very good relations between our two countries and expressed their willingness to boost their advancement, by focusing mainly on the economic aspect. Parties noted that the implementation of the legal framework and intensification of visits’ exchange would further serve in this regard.
Both ministers shared the view that the continuation of cooperation within the framework of international organizations is important to both countries. Minister Bushati thanked his counterpart for the support given to Kosovo and encouraged that this support be also provided on Kosovo’s request for admission to UNESCO. Moreover, Minister Bushati asked for Saudi Arabia's support in lobbying for the further recognition of Kosovo by Arab League countries, where the role of Saudi Arabia is very important.
Furthermore, the Ministers exchanged views on the situation and developments in the region and beyond. They shared the conviction that in coping with the threat posed by ISIL and terrorism against peace and security in the world, there’s need for better coordination of international efforts in the fight against them.
During the meeting with Foreign Minister of South Korea, Yun Byung, both ministers confirmed the excellent relations between the two countries and committed to further developing political dialogue. Parties highlighted the unexplored potential between the two countries and expressed their willingness to establish a more structured relationship in view of the consolidation of economic cooperation.
Minister Bushati put the emphasis on the possibilities of Korean companies to invest in Albania in areas such as energy, mining, electronics, chemical industry, infrastructure, tourism. He also welcomed the establishment of the Albania-South Korea Chamber of Commerce and the hosting of a business forum that will enable a closer cooperation between the two countries’ businesses.
The two Ministers signed the Agreement between the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Albania and the Government of the Republic of Korea on Economic Cooperation, which will boost economic relations between the two countries in areas of mutual interest.
During the meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Erlan Idrissov, the two Ministers praised the progress of bilateral relations.
With regard to the visit of Prime Minister Edi Rama in Astana in 2014, Ministers discussed possibilities and ways of strengthening economic cooperation.
Moreover, Minister Bushati underscored the promising bilateral cooperation for the realization of projects in the field of oil and gas, infrastructure, tourism, etc. He also underlined the need to promote contacts between business communities of both countries, with a view to benefit from all possible areas of potential cooperation.
Ministers agreed to support initiatives aimed at promoting trade and economic cooperation between the two countries, as well as completing the legal framework that will facilitate cooperation in this regard.
