Minister Bushati paid an official visit to the Federative Republic of Brazil

Foreign Minister Ditmir Bushati paid an official visit to the Federative Republic of Brazil. In this context, he held separate meetings with the Minister of External Relations Iecker Luiz Mauro Vieira, Minister of State for Tourism Alberto Alves, President of the Chamber of Deputies Cosentino Eduardo da Cunha and Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and National Defense of the Senate, Aloysio Nunes Ferreira.

At the meeting with the Minister of External Relations, both parties confirmed the good relations existing between the two countries and the common will to further deepen them through institutionalization of bilateral cooperation, exchange of high level visits and framework agreements, especially in areas such as tourism, agribusiness, mining, where Brazil can offer its valuable experience.
Minister Bushati highlighted the importance of boosting bilateral cooperation after the opening of respective embassies in Tirana and Brasilia, as well as the positive impact of the abolition of visas for citizens of both countries.

Moreover, the two Ministers discussed the rich agenda of multilateral cooperation and shared views on the challenges and latest developments the respective regions are facing.

Minister Bushati praised Brazil's incremental approach towards Kosovo, which was currently manifested by the recognition of their travel documents. In this context, he asked for necessary steps to be undertaken in order to allow Kosovo's participation in international organizations. Minister Vieira reiterated Brazil’s position on this matter, stating that the process of Kosovo’s recognition is an evolving issue. In response to the invitation of Minister Bushati, Minister Vieira expressed his desire to visit Tirana soon, as the next step to intensify political and economic cooperation.

At the end of the meeting, parties signed the Agreement on Air Transport between the Government of the Republic of Albania and the Federative Republic of Brazil.

The importance of cooperation particularly in the field of tourism by identifying ways of developing it was underlined at the meeting with Minister of State for Tourism Alberto Alves. Minister Bushati gave an overview on the economic situation in Albania, opportunities and facilities offered by the Albanian economy to attract foreign investments as well as economic and trade cooperation in various fields. Parties agreed to finalize a memorandum of cooperation in tourism, by recognizing the importance and potential of this sector.

In addition, Minister Bushati held meetings with the President of the Chamber of Deputies and the Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and National Defense of the Senate. Discussions at this meeting were focused on strengthening of bilateral cooperation, security challenges, intensification of political dialogue and the role of parliamentary diplomacy, as an important instrument for the intensification of cooperation.
