On 25 September 2026, Belgrade will host the 26th edition of the European Day of Languages, an event dedicated to promoting language learning and Europe’s cultural and linguistic diversity.

The event, which will take place from 10:00 to 13:00 at six different venues across Belgrade, is organised by the EUNIC Serbia network, the Delegation of the European Union to Serbia, and the Council of Europe. It will bring together students and young people aged 12–18, accompanied by their teachers, with 27 countries and organisations represented and more than 20 languages featured.

As part of this celebration of multilingualism and European cultures, the Albanian language will be represented by the Embassy of the Republic of Albania in the Republic of Serbia. The participation of the Albanian language adds a distinctive dimension to the event, introducing students and visitors to one of Europe’s languages and providing an opportunity to explore it through interactive activities.

Participants will receive a “language passport”, which they will complete by collecting stamps as they visit the various stands. At the stand dedicated to the Albanian language, students will have the opportunity to discover elements of Albanian language and culture through games and activities specially prepared for the occasion.

The programme will also feature quizzes, thematic activities, and 20-minute mini-courses, giving young people the opportunity to engage with a variety of European languages in a festive and friendly atmosphere.

The European Day of Languages aims to encourage young people’s interest in learning foreign languages and to highlight the richness brought by linguistic and cultural diversity. In this context, the participation of the Albanian language contributes to reflecting Europe’s linguistic diversity and to strengthening awareness of Albanian in a shared European space of culture and communication.
