
Starting as of January 1, 2020, Albania assumes, for the first time, the Chairmanship of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE). Albania is part of the OSCE – Troika, together with Italy and Slovakia that in 2018 and 2019 respectively were Chairs of the Organization.
Albania will chair the OSCE inspired by a sense of responsibility and motivated by the determination to contribute to the continent overall security, stability and democratization.
Main Objectives of the Albanian Chairmanship, 2020:
- Albania will continue the good work of the previous Chairmanships for the prevention, management and resolution of conflicts within the OSCE space. On its special focus will be the crisis in Ukraine and its surrounding regions, which remains Europe’s most urgent security challenge.
- Albania will be committed to promote good governance and anti-corruption principles throughout the space covered by the Organization.
- Albania will address the joint efforts for all participating countries of this organization, in view of the prevention of trafficking in human beings, as well as in fighting the culture of impunity in general.
- In 2020, Albania will have a special priority to the promotion of universality of human rights and fundamental freedoms.
- During the Albanian Chairmanship, a special role will be played by the youth, which has been defined as an inter-dimensional priority.
- A special attention will be paid to strengthening the role of women internationally during peace processes.
