In the course of the OSCE Informal Ministerial Gathering held in Slovakia, Acting Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Gent Cakaj has received support from Austria, Spain, and Sweden for the opening of negotiations for Albania by the European Union.

Cakaj-Maas meeting in Berlin: Following reforms and European Commission’s positive recommendation, Albania is ready for the start of talks


In the course of his official visit to Germany, Acting Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Gent Cakaj met the German Minister of Foreign Affairs Heiko Maas to discuss the European ambitions cherished by Albania and the states across the Balkans.
In this meeting, Acting Minister Cakaj thanked the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the solid and unstinting support for Albania on its European journey.

Who Can Travel Visa-Free to Albania this Summer?


Albania lifts the visa regime during the summer season for a group of passport holders that are required a visa if they visit out-of-season.
Starting April 1st, citizens of Russia, Saudi Arabia, Belarus, Qatar, Oman, Thailand, Bahrain, and China can travel visa-free to Albania until 31 October 2019. The decision was adopted by the Albanian Council of Ministers during a meeting held in late February and came into effect after its publication on the Official Gazette.

Cakaj-Palmer: Appreciation for Albania’s role in the Western Balkans, and its commitments within NATO and OSCE


During his stay in Washington, Acting Minister Cakaj had a meeting in the US Department of State with the Deputy Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs, Mr. Matthew Palmer.
In the course of the meeting, Acting Minister Cakaj and Mr. Palmer exchanged opinions about the recent developments in the Western Balkans, Albania’s role there, its relations with the neighbouring countries, and the prospects of the countries in the region for integration into the Euro-Atlantic structures.

Announcement on visa regime for foreign citizens visiting the Republic of Albania


Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs announces that, with the Decision of the Council of Minister No. 90, date 27.02.2019, on “Definition of criteria, procedures, and documentation for entry, stay and treatment of foreigners in the Republic of Albania”, citizens from Russian Federation, Saudi Arabia, Belarus, Qatar, Oman, Thailand, Bahrain may enter the Republic of Albania without visa for the period 1 April to 31 October 2019.
For the citizens from the People’s Republic of China this decision is valid for the period 1 March to 31 October 2019.

Acting Minister Cakaj meets Enlargement Commissioner Johannes Hahn


On-going intensive meetings of Acting Minister Cakaj in Brussels continue with the next stopover on the European Commission offices where he met with Enlargement Commissioner Johannes Hahn.
The progress of reforms related to the European agenda and expectations for a positive assessment of them in the commission’s report and decision-making of member countries in June were discussed in the meeting.

Top 10 Importers of ‘Made in Albania’ Agricultural Products


Agricultural exports reached Lek 33.8 billion in 2018 or Lek 2.3 billion more than the previous year. Italy remains the top importer of Albanian agricultural, livestock, and agro-industrial products. Over 22.300 tons of goods with a value of Lek 8.6 billion were exported to Italy during 2018, Scan TV reported. Even though Italy ranks first, a slight decline was noticed in the agricultural exports towards the neighbor country.
