During his stay in New York, Acting Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Gent Cakaj had a meeting with the OSCE Secretary General Thomas Greminger.
Albania’s political and technical preparations to assume OSCE Chairmanship in 2020 were at the centre of the talks.
‘Organisationally speaking, through the Task Force set up at the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs and its Mission based in Vienna, and fully coordinating with the participating countries, Albania is carrying out all the necessary tasks. Alongside the great international assistance provided to the Albanian team, the Albanian diplomats dealing with OSCE-specific issues have been engaged in particular exercises,’ Cakaj wrote in a Facebook post.
Likewise, Acting Minister Cakaj adds that, ‘From the political viewpoint, Albania has already laid out its Chairmanship’s initial priorities covering all the dimensions of the OSCE’s commitments, including the political and military, and economic and environmental commitments, as well as its commitments to the fundamental human rights.’
Finally, referring to Albania’s Chairmanship of the Mediterranean Contact Group, Acting Minister informs that all the obligations are fulfilled so as to have a dignified Conference in October, in Tirana.
