Minister of Finance held an official visit to Turkey for economic cooperation


The 12th Session of the Albanian-Turkish Intergovernmental Commission took place on 24 January 2020 in Ankara. The Committee was co-chaired by the Minister of Finance and Economy, Mrs. Anila Denaj, and the Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr. Mehmet Muharrem Kasapoglu, where the respective Protocol was signed.

Albania takes over the chairmanship of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, OSCE 2020


Starting as of January 1, 2020, Albania assumes, for the first time, the Chairmanship of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE). Albania is part of the OSCE – Troika, together with Italy and Slovakia that in 2018 and 2019 respectively were Chairs of the Organization.
Albania will chair the OSCE inspired by a sense of responsibility and motivated by the determination to contribute to the continent overall security, stability and democratization.

Powerful earthquake hits eastern Turkey


The 6.8 magnitude Richter earthquake struck on Friday evening, Elazig province, about 550 kilometers east of the country's capital, Ankara. So far, 22 people have died.
The Embassy of the Republic of Albania in Ankara states that no Albanian citizen has been identified  by the effects of this earthquake.
The Albanian Embassy in Ankara, together with the Consulate General in Istanbul, are  fully committed to assisting and supporting all Albanian citizens who may have been affected by this natural disaster.

Cakaj meets Greminger: Albania is ready for the OSCE Chairmanship


During his stay in New York, Acting Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Gent Cakaj had a meeting with the OSCE Secretary General Thomas Greminger.
Albania’s political and technical preparations to assume OSCE Chairmanship in 2020 were at the centre of the talks.

Cakaj at Poznań: Summit must send the message that accession negotiations must be opened


Acting Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Gent Cakaj underlines that the Poznań Summit must in conclusion send a powerful message that in October accession talks must be opened for Albania.
While attending the meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs from the Western Balkan states with the Ministers from the EU Member States, supporters of the Berlin Process, Cakaj asks that the participating countries must clearly state their position in support of the opening of the accession negotiations for Albania.

EasyJet to Start Two New Routes to Tirana in November


EasyJet, the British low-cost airline, has announced on Thursday, 8 August that starting from 28 November 2019, will have two direct routes to Tirana International Airport, from Italy and Switzerland respectively: Milano-Tirana (from Malpensa Airport) and Geneva-Tirana (from Geneve Aeroport). The flights will be twice a week, on Thursdays and Sundays. The reservations could be done from the official website of EasyJet, on the phone on the app with the same name or in GDS channels.

Cakaj: We are working for a successful Albanian OSCE Chairmanship


In the course of a joint press conference with the head of the OSCE Secretariat Thomas Greminger, Acting Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Gent Cakaj stated that efforts are being put forth to ensure successful Albanian Chairmanship of the Organisation in 2020.
‘To Albania, assumption of the OSCE Chairmanship in 2020 is the most important process in the history of multilateral commitments since its membership in the NATO,’ Cakaj said.

Greetings to everyone!
First, a thank-you goes to Minister Petříček for his collegial and fully cooperative spirit.
As well as being evidence of the excellent relations established between the Republic of Albania and the Czech Republic, this meeting indeed heralds the opening of a new chapter of opportunities for cooperating in a number of areas, ranging from politics to economy.
Actually, the Czech Republic and Albania are strongly related to the Euro-Atlantic values.
