Ankara, Minister Xhaçka: Türkiye is a key partner for Albania and the entire region

The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Olta Xhaçka, had an official visit to Ankara at the invitation of her counterpart, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of  Türkiye, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu.
Minister Xhaçka appreciated the close cooperation between the two countries and the role of Türkiye in our region, as she emphasized that regional cooperation remains the key to successfully dealing with security threats.
“We are very pleased that the intensification of the political dialogue has been accompanied by a significant increase in bilateral cooperation. Today we specifically discussed about cooperation in the fields of economy and trade.  We note with pleasure that in our country there is a continuous, positive and growing trend of Turkish investments.  We have currently reached the level of 800 million dollars in trade volume, which is quite a significant figure, but we are aware that this does not really reflect the potential that exists between our countries.  However, we look to the future with optimism, encouraged by the new investment projects that are already being developed in the infrastructure and energy sectors”, said the Albanian chief diplomat in the joint press statement.
Minister Çavuşoğlu welcomed the start of Albania-EU negotiations and appreciated the efforts of our country in regional cooperation.  According to him, Türkiye will continue its support to Albania for the development of its security and defense capacities.
“We are pleased that Albania has started membership negotiations with the EU.  Your country is a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council at a difficult time.  We appreciate Albania’s efforts in regional cooperation, have supported, and will always continue to be close to brotherly Albania”, said Minister Çavuşoğlu.
In 2023, Albania and Türkiye mark the 100th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
