Bushati in Sarajevo: Favorable moment for enlargement. Joint political commitment and concrete instruments aiming to advance the integration process

Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Ditmir Bushati, is in Sarajavo, where he is attending the Western Balkans Foreign Ministers' Meeting. The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria, who holds the Presidency of the EU Council and the Director General for Enlargement at the European Commission, Christian Danielsson, also attended the meeting.

The meeting was held following the European Commission Enlargement Strategy and in the framework of preparations for the EU-Western Balkans Summit which is to be held in Sofia in May this year as well as in the framework of the the next meeting of the Berlin Process, which will take place in London next summer.

Ministers stressed the need to give new impetus to the integration process and to make more concrete the responsibilities undertaken under the Berlin Process.

Minister Bushati underlined the fundamental importance of a joint commitment and political will as well as concrete instruments in order to exploit the present favorable moment in terms of the spirit of enlargement. Ministers evaluated that this could be achieved through consolidated  relations of good neighborliness and full commitment to advancing the integration process.

During the Ministerial Conference of the Western Balkans Fund, it was emphasized that this is an important mechanism for strengthening regional cooperation and building new bridges between the parties, as the best ways to guarantee security and stability in region.
