Assistance and support for Ukraine’s innovation and creativity sector and intellectual property system

Mr. Chair,

Honorable Director General,

Ladies and gentlemen,

Albania would like to align itself with the statements delivered by Moldova on behalf of CEBS group, by Netherlands on behalf of Group B, and Hungary on behalf of the European Union.

We thank WIPO’s Director General and the Secretariat for preparing the report on Assistance and Support for the Innovation and Creativity Sector and Intellectual Property System of Ukraine, as contained in document A/65/7.

We commend WIPO’s efforts aimed at delivering assistance and support to the Innovation and Creativity Sector and IP system of Ukraine and we encourage and support WIPO’s secretariat to further continue to provide assistance to Ukraine with the aim to mitigate the adverse effects of the Russian aggression, and to rebuild Ukrainian IP systems.

As we are speaking, Russia’s illegal, unprovoked and unjustified war of aggression against Ukraine and its civilian infrastructure goes on, effecting not only Ukraine, Europe, but the entire world as well, causing geo-economic and geo-political instabilities, which in turn, effects our efforts for further growth and development through boosting creativity and innovation.

Ukraine needs support and assistance and we stand with Ukrainian people. Albania fully support the joint proposal on behalf of CEBS and Group B which recall the importance of continuous WIPO Assistance and support to Ukrainian IP stakeholders’ recovery from the consequences of Russian war.

Long-term international assistance will be necessary for a full recovery and return to normality.
