From 13 to 15 April, the 4th Diaspora Summit was held in Tirana under the theme “Through Roots We Rise”, bringing together thousands of Albanians from across the globe engaged in various fields of social, professional and cultural life, thereby demonstrating their valuable contribution in the countries where they live and work.

The Albanian community in Greece stood out for its broad and substantive participation, offering meaningful contributions to discussions and to the addressing of issues of relevance to the diaspora.

The Ambassador of the Republic of Albania to Greece, H.E. Ms. Luela Hajdaraga, also took part in this important event. Through meetings with institutional representatives and stakeholders, she conveyed the voice, concerns and priorities of the Albanian community in Greece, further strengthening the ties between the diaspora and institutions in the homeland. In the same spirit, diplomats responsible for sectoral diaspora affairs contributed to building bridges of cooperation among community representatives, public institutions, and actors from the fields of business, culture and education.

The thematic panel discussions were enriched by the contributions of distinguished Albanian linguists in Greece, Mr. Stavri Dajo and Mr. Dhori Qirjazi, as well as Mr. Luan Kukaj, a prominent representative of Albanian entrepreneurship in Greece. Through their insights and experience, they highlighted the active and important role of the diaspora in the development of the country and its support from abroad.

A notable moment of the Summit was the awarding of the “Golden Eagle” prize to the Association of Albanian Teachers in Greece, in recognition of its valuable contribution to the preservation of the Albanian language and national identity, as well as to actor Mr. Nikolla Llambro, for his promotion of Albanian culture. Furthermore, translator Ms. Orgesa Kodhelaj was honored with the “Jusuf Vrioni” award, in appreciation of her significant contribution to the field of translation and culture.

The Summit also featured thematic panels, B2B meetings, project presentations and cultural activities, creating concrete opportunities for cooperation, networking and the development of joint initiatives.

This gathering reaffirmed the importance of unity and cooperation within the diaspora, conveying clear messages of cohesion, engagement and a shared vision for the future.
