After leading the Albanian resistance against the expansion of the Ottoman Empire for almost 25 years, Gjergj Kastrioti Skanderbeg passed away on January 17th, 1468. He was able to unite the Albanian nobles under his leadership, declare his policy of war and successfully oppose the Ottoman armies on the battlefield and in diplomacy. In honor of our national hero, Ambassador Spasse, Honorary Consul, Mr. Avni Hafuzi, and the Deputy Mayor of Eger, Mr. Mátyás Berecz, laid wreaths in the town square named after Skanderbeg.
